Educational Qualifications
October 1994 - July 1998
Bournemouth University: BA (Hons) Product Design Visualisation (2:ii)
This course offered an holistic approach to the product design process, from initial brief and conceptualisation through to manufacture. The course utilised 2 main software packages; Alias/Wavefront for concept and final visualisations and SDRC I-deas Masters Series for testing and design for manufacture (producing engineering drawings and 3D data).
The sandwich year offered the opportunity to pursue the visualisation and animation facets of the course within industry. The final year of the course required the student to fully design and develop a product of their own choosing to a manufacturable level. This involved a numberof processes including concept generation, aesthetic and ergonomic studies, material selection, testing, technical justification and 2D engineering drawings.

Project Title: ‘A Portable, Drinks Can Refrigeration Unit for Campers.’
A product capable of cooling a single 500ml can using a carbon dioxide refrigerant. Involving heat transfer, thermodynamic and insulation studies.
Dissertation: ‘Nanotechnology: The Life or Death of Product Design?’
A study of the relationship between product design, society and technology in a future world of abundance and almost limitless possibilities.
